If you don’t already know Rico Nasty‘s name, you’ll be familiar with it in 2017. The rising DMV artist has been on a sudden rise that’s almost been unseen. After starting rapping 2014, she’s pushed herself to the forefront of a large number of DMV artists that are “up next.” Following the footsteps of her dad, she began recording music after linking up with people that had a studio. She then released her debut mixtape Summer’s Eve in May of 2014. After that project, Rico released a few tracks, but pretty much went into a hiatus.
This year she made a full return back to music and hasn’t looked back since. In July she released The Rico Story, her first project in two years. A month later she dropped the video for the standout single off the project “iCarly.” Since it’s release, the video has had over 200k views. After the good reception to The Rico Story, she then dropped her Sugar Trap EP in August. Some standout cuts are “Hey Arnold” and “#ChoppaInTheTrunk” whose videos have over 50k and 79k views respectively. Another standout track is “13 Minutes Away” featuring 2HypeMike
Rico Nasty describes her music as “one of a kind” saying, “If you get it, you get it. If you don’t, you don’t. I’m just doing what I love.” Her music has a catchy and fun appeal which easily attracts her fanbase. Her single “Hey Arnold” showcases this greatly. Add that with her high energy characteristics, it’s no wonder why she’s so popular.
What’s next for Rico Nasty? In November she’ll release her solo tape, Life Of A Rockstar. Before that she’ll drop Cuffing Season, a joint mixtape with Tino Loud. Until then you can check out her latest single “Dennis Rodman.”
